After receiving a PhD in Anatomy from Duke University, I taught anatomy at several medical schools and then attended The University of Illinois College of Dentistry and completed a General Practice Residency at Loyola University Medical Center. I practiced as a geriatric dentist in Detroit for over 30 years, and was a member of the team that founded the Henry Ford Center for Senior Independence, where I practiced for many years. I also had a mobile practice that provided care for homebound, assisted living and nursing home patients all over the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. I also presented continuing education courses on treatment of dementia patients in numerous locations around Michigan. After I retired my practice I began volunteering several days a week at the St. Vincent de Paul Dental Clinic in Detroit, and later at the Malta Dental and Medical Clinic in Detroit, and was an adjunct faculty member at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, providing lectures on geriatrics and dementia for dental and hygiene students. Since moving to Washington I am volunteering at Lahi Clinic in Lynnwood.
