Non-surgical delivery of periodontal therapy (debridement) is the cornerstone in phase I care. However, the application, especially with advanced disease, requires time, exceptional skills, and understanding of the fundamental instrumentation (power or hand) concepts. With advancements in technologies and newer theories, clinicians may question their instrumentation selection, be uncertain how to navigate scaling and root planing or what sequence with the current AAP classification for teeth and implants?
