Bistra Zheleva, MBA is the Vice President of Global Strategy and Advocacy at Children's HeartLink. She leads the organization’s advocacy efforts and country-level growth. Bistra has close to 20 years’ experience in program implementation and government advocacy for improved access to pediatric cardiac care in hospitals and public health in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). She has managed many hospital capacity building partnerships in LMICs and initiated the first children’s heart health systems strengthening, government relations and global advocacy initiatives for Children’s HeartLink.
Bistra is a founding member of the Global Alliance for Rheumatic and Congenital Hearts, an alliance of patient and family leaders, and a steering committee member of the International Quality Improvement Collaborative, a global initiative aimed at improving cardiac care for children in LMICs. She’s also an active member of several pediatric cardiac professional societies and global child health initiatives, and regularly publishes in academic publications and speaks at international forums. Since 2003, her experience with Children’s HeartLink has taken her to many countries around the world, making her a passionate advocate for the needs of children with heart disease.
