Louise Callow was the first CPNP with the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Service at CS Mott Children's Hospital. Since 1987, she has grown the APP service to 11 APPs who provide inpatient and outpatient care in Critical care, acute care, and moderate care areas. She has extensive clinical experience with pre-and post-operative patients of all ages with acquired or congenital heart disease. She has served on multiple instiutional committees in her role as an APP and as the nurse manager for the Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Unit. She has also written and spoken locally, nationally, and internationally on multiple topics related to the care of this patient population. Louise has served as a Board member for PCICS as well as chairing the PCICS SIGs and participating on the Education and DEI committees. She partnered with Lindsey Justice to develop the PCICS Advanced Practice Provider Curriculum and continues to be active in teaching and further developing this work. She is an active member in other professional organizations including the Society for Pediatric Cardiovascular Nurses, PNCB, and the AHA. She has participated in mutliple mission trips to LMIC to teach sustainable care for children with acquired and congenital heart disease.
