Catherine Krawczeski, MD, is the Physician-in-Chief at Nationwide Children's Hospital and the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She is a Professor of Pediatrics. Dr. Krawczeski was formerly the Division Chief of Cardiology and Co-Director of The Heart Center at Nationwide Children's Hospital.
Dr. Krawczeski obtained her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She served as pediatric resident and pediatric chief resident at St. Louis Children’s Hospital at Washington University, where she also completed fellowships in pediatric critical care medicine and pediatric cardiology. Her clinical expertise is in cardiac intensive care.
Her primary research interests include the effects of cardiopulmonary bypass and critical illness on the kidney and the long-term deleterious effects of kidney injury in pediatric patients. She is recognized as an expert in cardiac surgery related AKI and in biomarkers of kidney injury. As a former Pediatric Cardiology fellowship program director, she also has a strong interest in mentoring and career development.
Dr. Krawczeski has served leadership roles on multiple national committees and organizations, including the PCICS Board of Directors, and Co-Chair of the PCICS Scientific Review Committee.
