Dr. Michael Gaies is a Professor in the Heart Institute at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He received his Bachelor of Arts from The Johns Hopkins University in 1997, MD and Masters of Public Health from Harvard Medical School and the Harvard School of Public Health in 2002, and MS in Health and Healthcare Research from the University of Michigan in 2013. He completed pediatrics residency at Boston Children’s Hospital in 2005 and served as Chief Resident in 2005-2006 and fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology and cardiac intensive care at the University of Michigan from 2006-2010.
Dr. Gaies’ research and clinical practice focuses on outcomes for children with critical cardiovascular disease, specifically those who have undergone cardiac surgery. He is the founder and past Executive Director of the Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Consortium (PC4), and is a co-director of Cardiac Networks United. At CCHMC Dr. Gaies serves as the Medical Director of the Acute Care Cardiology Unit, Diretor of the Heart Institute Data Center, and Co-Director of the Heart Institute Outcomes Program.
