Joscyln is a dual certified Primary and Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) with University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in the Heart Center at Children's Health Dallas for the last 15 years. She currently practices as an inpatient NP with the Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Care (PACC) team caring for patients with heart failure, heart transplant, and ventricular assist devices (VAD)s. She is part of the core team that implemented the Cardiac Neurodevelopment Program at Children's Health; with particular focus on the inpatient program aimed at helping patients meet their best potential through individulaized multidisciplinary developmental care rounds and developmental care plans. Most of her work has been towards educating bedside nursing and medical staff on the factors that can be modified in the first year of life in the critical care environment. Additionally, Joscyln has an interest in compassion fatigue and working with colleagues to overcome provider burn out. She believes that in order to help patients improve their quality of life there must also be special attention paid to the overall wellbeing of the team providing care everyday.
