Dr Atim Ekpenyong is an Associate professor in the department of Pediatrics at the University of California-San Diego. She serves as the Associate Program director- Diversity for the UC- San Diego Pediatric residency program where she spearheads Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts in the residency Program. She started the Pediatric Ultrasound fellowship and Point-of-Care ultrasound program in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and serves as the Program director for the latter. She completed a double fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Emergency Ultrasound at the University of Texas-Southwestern program,Dallas,Texas and University of Texas-Houston following her Pediatric residency at the St. Joseph's hospital(Mount Sinai school of Medicine program) in Paterson, New Jersey. Her research interests are Point-of- care Ultrasound, Medical education, Emergency airway and Global health. She is also interested in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in graduate medical education and is Sanford institute for empathy and compassion Anti-Racist Pedagogy Learning Community Fellow.
