Dr. Benjamin is board certified in pediatric critical care medicine and is the Medical Director of the Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte North Carolina.
Her passions are caring for critically ill congenital heart patients and promoting equity to access quality healthcare through her work in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Dr. Benjamin has always loved pediatrics and had a wonderful female pediatrician growing up in the Caribbean who inspired her. During medical school, she was drawn to the complexities and quick pace of critical care and especially loved managing critically ill pediatric cardiac patients.
She received her medical degree at the University of the West Indies and completed a pediatric residency at the University of the West Indies. After realizing her passion for managing critically ill children, she completed a residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York and a pediatric critical care fellowship at Cohen Children's Medical Center in 2005.
As a blended family, Dr. Benjamin and her husband have 6 children and 3 dogs. She enjoys all activities related to water and is a certified scuba diver. She also enjoys traveling, hiking, and working out.
