Dr. Dana Mueller, MD, is a board-certified pediatric intensivist at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego and a Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She specializes in pediatric cardiac critical care and devotes the majority of her clinical time to caring for critically ill cardiac patients.
After graduating with her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. Mueller completed her Pediatrics Residency at University of Minnesota. She then went on to complete a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care and an additional fellowship in Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care, both at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Prior to joining the group at Rady Children's, Dr. Mueller was previously a cardiac critical care intensivist and faculty member at Seattle Children's and University of Washington.
Dr. Mueller's research interests include looking at outcome measures and identifying areas of potential intervention in the cardiothoracic intensive care unit, with the goal of improving the future care of patients with critical cardiac disease. Last year, she completed an institutional Quality Improvement Leadership course and is the Clinical Co-Champion for Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Consortium (PC4) at the local level, and serves on the PC4 Quality Committee at the national level. Additionally, she led the implementation of Target Based Care, a PC4/Cardiac Networks United collaborative initiative. Dr. Mueller is in her second year of serving as Co-Chair for the PCICS Quality and Safety Committee and looks forward to continuing the Committee's innovative and exciting work.
