Nicolas Madsen, M.D., is the Co-Director of The Heart Center and Chief of Cardiology at Children’s Health℠. He is also an Associate Professor of Cardiology at UT Southwestern. He earned his medical degree at University of Washington School of Medicine, where he also completed his Masters in Public Health. He completed residency training in pediatrics and his fellowship training in pediatric cardiology at Seattle Children's Hospital. Prior to his arrival at Children’s Health, Dr. Madsen was the Medical Director of the Heart Institute at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Madsen is a nationally recognized leader and researcher who works to improve the quality of life for children with congenital heart disease. He co-founded the Pediatric Acute Care Cardiology Collaborative (PAC3) and serves as Co-Executive Director. The goal of this organization is to help children hospitalized with heart conditions achieve better outcomes through traditional research and quality improvement science. In addition, Dr. Madsen holds an Adjunct Professor position at the University of Aarhus in Denmark, with who he collaborates to study heart disease outcomes across the lifespan.
