Dr. Fundora is a cardiac intensivist at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Emory School of Medicine. The overall focus of his research has been in investigating the economic and clinical impact of workload on critical illness in children, on families, and in healthcare systems. He has an intense interest in quality improvement, resource utilization, management science and healthcare operations and aims to develop sustainable interventions to deliver high quality, safe, and efficient care. He has a background in economics, finance, and clinical research, having previously worked as a corporate financial analyst. His most recent work has been in modeling staffing and workload in the cardiac ICU, which demonstrated an association between increased workload and bed utilization, patient length of stay, mortality, and costs.
