The speakers will review the current state of the art in treating severe pain, the latest guidelines, drug classes, and what works in a practical sense to help patients in severe need. We will explore co-morbidities and the links between mental illness and pain, with the aim of giving practical methods to get the best results for patients. We will review new classes of drugs in development and devices that show promise, including a highly sophisticated, next-generation opioid which may reduce opioid abuse and prevent overdose deaths.
