Nebojsa (Nick) Knezevic obtained his MD and PhD degrees from the University of Belgrade in Serbia and completed his training at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He is the Vice Chairman for Research and Education at the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, and a Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology and Surgery at the College of Medicine, University of Illinois at Chicago. He is the current President of the Illinois Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, Director-at-Large of the North American Neuromodulation Society Board of Directors and in Editorial Boards of many prestigious medical journals.
Professor Knezevic has extensive expertise in basic and clinical research and has published almost 200 peer-reviewed scientific articles, that were cited more than 4100 times; including the most recent publication in the Lancet journal with an impact factor of 79.321.
Throughout his prestigious academic career, Dr. Knezevic has developed many research and educational programs for medical students, residents, fellows and attending physicians. He manages multiple U.S. and global clinical trials (phases I-IV) for the testing of different pain medications and medical devices for treatment of acute and chronic pain. He is also a recognized lecturer at many national and international conferences.
Professor Knezevic received multiple recognitions and excellence awards for patient care (Top Doctor for 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020), teaching and outstanding research and academic achievements, including the Manchikanti Excellence Award for 2021.
