In her role, Jennifer is helping to lead NC’s efforts to secure economic development and workforce opportunities in the increasingly important clean energy sector. She is a key player in the development of the state’s resources for offshore wind (OSW) energy to advance the industry through policy, regulatory, and economic development efforts. She was instrumental in the development of both EO 218, which established NC's first OSW development goals, and the SMART-POWER MOU with Virginia and Maryland, which brings together the strengths of all three states to develop OSW in the region. Prior to Commerce, Jennifer served as Senior Policy Advisor to then-NCDEQ Secretary, now EPA Administrator Michael Regan. Prior to DEQ, she spent 10+ years as a nonpartisan Senior Legislative Analyst at the North Carolina General Assembly. Jennifer earned bachelor’s degrees in Environmental Science and Political Science from Virginia Tech and her Master’s of Science in Public Health from UNC-Chapel Hill.
