Senior Marine Scientist

Miss. Onni Irish is a Senior Marine Scientist at AECOM, and brings Law of the Sea, GIS, and marine spatial planning expertise to marine projects. She integrates geospatially driven analyses into desktop studies to build a quantitative/qualitative approach to examining marine infrastructure projects. Prior to joining AECOM, Onni led a team conducting marine desktop technical assessments for planned submarine fiber optic cable systems worldwide and worked at the U.S. Coast Guard. During a U.S. Fulbright Fellowship, she researched and compared Norway’s Barents Sea ocean management techniques with the Northeast Ocean Plan for the Gulf of Maine. She also serves on the International Law Association (ILA) Committee for Submarine Cables & Pipelines and on the American Branch of the ILA Committee for Law of the Sea. Onni holds a BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and a MS in Earth Sciences, Ocean Mapping and Geospatial Science Certificate from the University of New Hampshire.
