Assistant Secretary for Clean Energy Economic Development North Carolina Department of Commerce Raleigh, North Carolina, United States
Presentation Description: The mission of the NC Department of Commerce is to improve the economic well-being and quality of life for all North Carolinians. At the Department, we are striving to meet the goals Governor Cooper set out in Executive Orders to address the climate crisis by transitioning North Carolina to a clean energy economy. A 2021 report on the state’s offshore wind (OSW) supply chain opportunities commissioned by the Department confirms that North Carolina is well positioned to secure much of the industry’s potential $140 billion in economic investment and to support the accompanying tens of thousands of good-paying jobs. Our manufacturing GDP ranks highest of the East Coast states and 5th overall in the U.S. Together with our public, private, and academic partners on the NC Taskforce for Offshore Wind Economic Resource Strategies (NCTOWERS) the Department is forging a path to create the most attractive investment and recruitment environment for the nation’s burgeoning OSW industry.
