Marine Protected Species and Regulatory Specialist at Advisian Advisian Worley Group Portland, Oregon, United States
Presentation Description: BOEM has identified a large Call Area for offshore wind in the US Gulf of Mexico and plans to conduct lease sales by the end of the first quarter of 2023. The Gulf of Mexico has a variety of advantages as both a hub for the US supply chain and an offshore wind development site, including decades of experience in the development of offshore infrastructure, strong climate plan commitments from coastal states like Louisiana, and significant datasets for informing siting and potential impacts. This panel will share insights on the advantages of existing supply chain and infrastructural expertise, large-scale Gulf of Mexico modeling efforts to inform wind siting by NOAA and BOEM, scientific and academic collaborations, and innovative approaches being initiated by developers. The advantages in this region can be applied to streamlining offshore wind development. Panelists: Sarah Courbis (Advisian; moderator), Tershara Matthews (BOEM), Jeff Keever (T Parker Host), Fabiola Campoblanco (Advisian), James Morris (NOAA), and Anthony Bodin (RWE).
