Dr. Suleiman’s area of expertise is geotechnical and foundation engineering. His research focuses on sustainable and resilient civil infrastructure and renewable energy systems including deep foundations, soil-structure interaction, thermoactive geotechnical systems, and bio-mediated and bio-inspired soil improvement. Dr. Suleiman is the Lead PI of the Department of Energy-Funded Project to establish a National Offshore Wind Energy Testing and Hybrid Simulation Facility at Lehigh.
Dr. Suleiman is an associate editor of the ASCE Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering and the Geotechnical Testing Journal. He served as the Chair of Geo-Institute Deep Foundations Committee. He is the author/co-author of more than 90 refereed technical papers/manuscripts. He is the recipient of the Shamsher Prakash 2014 Prize for Excellence in Teaching of Geotechnical Engineering and the 2016 Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute’s George D. Nasser Award, PCI Journal Paper.
