Mr. Berry has over 30 years of Maritime Transportation experience. A proud graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy, John sailed for 14 Years in the US Merchant Marine. During his shipboard career he advanced his License form 3rd Mate to Master, Oceans Unlimited. Sailing all over the world and handling a wide variety of Bulk, Break Bulk and Containerized Cargoes. In 2003 John joined the Massachusetts Port Authority in the Port of Boston. He spent the next 14 years in various operational positions throughout the port. During his time at the Paul W. Conley Marine Terminal, he was involved with Ship, Yard and Gate Operations. He also took on additional responsibility as an ambassador for MASSPORT, involved with demonstrating the port capabilities to prospective users, partners, and elected officials. Gaining expertise in port optimization and efficiency, labor relations, community relations and customer service. In 2017 He became the Terminal Manager of the Raymond L. Flynn Cruise Port at Black Falcon Terminal in South Boston. During that time, the Port saw record number of passengers, ships, and events at the Cruiseport. While at Flynn Cruiseport John was responsible for the Safety, Security, and operations, furthermore, he oversaw the day-to-day facility maintenance, and participated in multiple port rehabilitation projects. John supported and promoted the community through multiple outreach efforts. In August of 2021 John oversaw and collaborated with City, State and Federal Authorities to restart cruising successfully and safely in Boston. In late 2021 John left MASSPORT to join Crowley to seek new challenges and opportunities in the Offshore Wind Industry. John is extremely excited and enthusiastic to be involved with the rehabilitation of the Historic Port of Salem and the benefits that Offshore Wind will provide to the City of Salem, as well as the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
