Ms. Cheri Hunter is the Renewable Energy Program Coordinator, Office of the Director, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), in Washington, D.C.
As BSEE’s Renewable Energy Program Coordinator, Ms. Hunter leads a multi-disciplined team of technical and policy specialists in developing the processes, policies, and framework necessary to stand up and maintain an effective and efficient safety and compliance assurance program to support the responsible growth and development of renewable energy resources on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS).
Working collaboratively with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and in consultation with BSEE managers, she is responsible for ensuring that critical stakeholder input is considered during formulation of programmatic and policy decisions, BSEE guidance documents, standard operating procedures, and program communications..
Ms. Hunter has over 30 years of experience with BSEE and its predecessor agency, working with programs that drive improvements in safety performance and environmental sustainability in offshore energy production. Her career commitments and goals have included supporting international government-to-government initiatives designed to share best practices and build regulatory capacity in both developing countries as well as with strategic partners.
Ms. Hunter earned her B.S. degree in biology and wildlife management from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
