Sara Parkison is a Sea Grant Knauss Fellow working in BOEM’s Office of Environmental Programs as an Underserved Community Engagement Advisor for offshore wind. In this role, she uses her expertise in offshore wind and energy policy to advance BOEM’s environmental justice goals, especially around meaningful engagement of communities near offshore wind activities in the Atlantic.
Sara is also a PhD candidate within the University of Delaware’s College of Earth Ocean and Environment, where her research focuses on sociotechnical energy transitions. Before the Knauss Fellowship, she was a Senior Policy Analyst with the Electric Vehicle Research & Development Group within the University of Delaware’s Center for Research in Wind. Her policy work and research emphasizes the integration of renewable energy, such as offshore wind, and the deployment of distributed energy resources in the form of storage, including grid-integrated electric vehicle systems. Sara received her BA in Political Science and Public Policy at St. Mary’s Public Honors College of Maryland.
