Presentation Description: The Federal government and a number of States currently are evaluate methods to develop an offshore wind transmission grid that can be integrated into the onshore transmission system, and facilitate the delivery of offshore wind generation to one or more states. These efforts have identified a number of potentially opportunities and solutions, as well as technical and regulatory challenges. This panel -- which will include a State agency representative, Federal agency representative technical consultant, RTO representative, and/or transmission system developer -- will identify and discuss the initial lessons learned, and identify potential mechanisms that will facilitate the future development of an integrated offshore wind transmission grid.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will understand the existing regulatory system applicable to the development of offshore wind transmission.
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify the permitting, regulatory and technical challenges that must successfully be addressed to facilitate the development of offshore wind transmission.
