Presentation Description: We will present a research proof-of-concept (POC) effort at Anduril Industries funded by NOWRDC & NYSERDA. The POC will occur in 2023 and focuses on using an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) with advanced computer vision (CV) and machine learning (ML) processed at the edge to better perform maintenance inspections on export power cables from the Block Island wind farm. As this is a POC, we are also seeking guidance from other stakeholders around topics such as applicability to other areas of OSW, emerging regulations, future areas for improvement, and barriers to operational scalability.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participant should be able to describe how inspections are performed currently and what value autonomy can bring to OSW.
Upon completion, a participant will be able to describe a novel use of an AUV to inspect/survey critical OSW infrastructure. Bonus points if the participant can name any of the various sensors attached to the AUV and what they can discover in the operation.
Upon completion, participant should be able to list key concerns evaluated during maintenance inspections for an OSW asset.
