Heather Kirk has worked at Northeast Mississippi Community College as an Associate Degree Nursing faculty member since January 2016. Heather has over 18 years’ experience in the field of nursing; primarily in med/surg, women’s health, hospice, and advanced practice. Heather received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Alabama in 2004. She graduated with her Master’s in Advanced Practice Nursing from the University of Alabama- Birmingham in 2010. She finished her Doctorate in Advanced Nursing Practice with a post graduate certificate in nursing education from Samford University in 2019. She completed her doctoral project on sports injury prevention in youth baseball. During her time as a faculty member, Heather has taught Maternal Child Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing I, and Nursing Fundamentals. She has also served as a Health Science Simulation Instructor in the Simulation Laboratory. Heather has served on multiple committees for the college and is a committee member of the Instructional Technology Committee and Athletic Committee, as well as the faculty mentor for the Mississippi Organization for Associate Degree Nursing- Student Association (MOSA). She is the President of the Employee Association at NEMCC and chairs the Standard 6 Outcomes Committee for ACEN Accreditation at NEMCC.
