Dr. Beth Dawson is an Associate Degree Nursing Program Faculty member who began her career at Northeast in 2012. Dr. Dawson has served as the Course Coordinator for NUR1229- Care of the Family and the Assistant Course Coordinator for NUR2339- Nursing Care of the Adult 1; and is currently the Nurse Resource & Technology Coordinator for the program. She is also a faculty sponsor for the Alpha Delta Nu, Eta Iota Chapter, nursing honor society for the associate degree nursing students. Dr. Dawson received her Bachelors in Nursing from the University of North Alabama in 2002. In 2007, she earned her Masters of Nursing, with emphasis on Advance Practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and gained national certification through the American Nurse Credential Center. She has been a nurse for over 20 years and has worked in various patient care areas to include the Emergency Department, Medical-Surgical unit, and Post-Anesthesia Care unit. She has also worked in rural health clinic and college heath as a Family Nurse Practitioner. In 2017, Dr. Dawson earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice with a Nursing Education Certificate from Samford University. Dr. Dawson has been in nursing education for over 10 years. She first worked as an adjunct clinical faculty member at the University of North Alabama where she taught nursing clinical rotations for 2 years before beginning her career at Northeast. Dr. Dawson was awarded the Innovative Teaching award from the Mississippi Organization for Associate Degree Nursing in 2020 and the T.O.P. (Teaching Outstanding Performance) from NEMCC in 2021. In the fall of 2022, Dr. Dawson gained national certification as a Certiied Nurse Eduator through the NLN.
