Patrick McMurray is a second-generation registered nurse with over seven years of nursing experience with a primary background in cardiovascular critical care. He works as a clinical nurse at the University of NC at Chapel Hill Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC. Patrick teaches pharmacology as an adjunct Faculty member at Robeson Community College, where he also received his Associate of Applied Science in Nursing in 2013. He is a graduate student pursuing a master of science in nursing, focusing on nursing education at Western Governors University. Patrick’s scholarly interests stem from his passion for championing social change, diversity, and health equity via equitable accessibility to nursing education and academic/career progression. Patrick has a co-authored manuscript focusing on decolonizing entry to nursing practice. He is a member of the editorial board of the Teaching and Learning in Nursing Journal and the Organization of Associate Degree Nurses. In his spare time, Patrick manages the PatMacRN website & blog and enjoyes reading, writing, hiking, astronomy, and Citizen Science.
