Dr. Justin Fontenot, DNP, RN, NEA-BC (he/him/his)
Dr. Fontenot is a Registered Nurse in his 22nd year of nursing in South Louisiana. He is an Assistant Professor of Nursing in the LHC Group Myers School of Nursing at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Dr. Fontenot is a proud ADN graduate who strongly supports community colleges and accessible education. He worked in Medical/Surgical settings, and in the last decade of his career, he worked in home care and hospice settings from the bedside to the C-Suite. He is a board-certified Nurse Executive Advanced. He is the Associate Editor of Teaching and Learning in Nursing and a co-chair of the national diversity, equity, and inclusion taskforces at the Organization of Associate Degree Nursing and the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses. Dr. Fontenot is currently researching his PREP framework, a method to enhance critical thinking in pre-licensure nursing students, and its impact on their clinical reasoning skills. Dr. Fontenot’s research interests include clinical pedagogy, clinical reasoning, and care of community-dwelling adults and LGBTQIA+ persons.
