Dr. Doughty has been a nurse for over 25 years and is the Director of Nursing at Delaware Technical Community College in the state of Delaware. Her work in trauma informed care began with her dissertation in 2018, which was published in the Journal of Continuing Education for Health Professions. She has a chapter in a textbook titled Examining Social Change & Social Responsibility in Higher Education. She has presented locally at nursing research and educator conferences and nationally at Sigma's Biennial Convention. She is involved in the community aspect of trauma informed care and serves as co-chair for Trauma Matters Delaware's Institutes of Higher Education subcommittee, whose goal is to integrate trauma informed care and practices into the culture and curriculum of colleges and universities.
