Dr. Boyer recently completed her doctorate specializing in Instructional Leadership in Nursing Education earning her Ed. D. at the University of Alabama completing a dissertation on The Experience Teaching Evidence-Based Practice in Associate Degree Nursing Programs. She has a Bachelors and Masters of Science in Nursing Executive Administration from the University of South Alabama. She is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Critical Care Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society, and Omega Nu Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Boyer serves as a faculty advisor for Coastal Alabama’s Student Nurses Association in Bay Minette and Fairhope.
Dr. Boyer has been licensed as a Registered Nurse for over 34 years and has taught nursing at Coastal Alabama Community College for fourteen years. She served the college as an adjunct nursing instructor prior to beginning her teaching career at Faulkner State Community College. Dr. Boyer has experience in a variety of healthcare settings including intensive care unit, cardiac rehabilitation, stress lab, heart catheterization, GI lab, admissions, outpatient, post-anesthesia care unit, home health, and as a mental health worker II. Over the years, Dr. Boyer has taught a variety of classes including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, psychiatric, medical-surgical, adult health, LPN/Paramedic mobility, critical care nursing, and has coordinated many clinicals. She was nominated for the 2012 Chancellors Award for Teaching Excellence in the Alabama Community College Association. Dr. Boyer is married to her best friend and nursing educator colleague, Steven Wright and spends her time off traveling with her husband, daughter, and grandchildren.
