704 - Jump Start Student’s Success!

Nursing school is not like like any other program. The demand for clinical judgment makes completion of the nursing program difficult for incoming students. What can be done? This session will provide participants with a tool box for designing a pre-program seminar to help students with their success in that first crucial semester.

Attrition from the first semester was high and the Student Success faculty wanted to help the incoming classes to prepare for the rigorous nursing program. Jump Start Student Success! was created to bridge that gap between college student and nursing student. Jump Start Student Success! is a complimentary interactive seminar offered to students entering the nursing program. Even though the pandemic, students flocked to attend to get that sneak peak into the nursing program. This session will explore high-risk identification methods to determine causes of attrition from the first semester, and provide a toolbox of ideas for participants to take back to their own facilities to Jump Start their own Students' Success!
