Certain therapeutic agents, particularly neuroleptics, can cause uncontrolled movements of the arms, legs, and face, a side effect known as tardive dyskinesia. There are many false beliefs about this condition, including that it is uncommon, not a big deal, and that there is nothing that can be done about it. This session aims to debunk the tardive dyskinesia misinformation out there, better enabling clinicians to help their patients as quickly and effectively as possible.

Learning Objectives:

Implement strategies to ensure integration and multidisciplinary TD care coordination between psychiatry and neurology
Describe why anticholinergics are not recommended for TD treatment
Utilize MOA, key clinical trial data and current guideline recommendations to appropriately implement and/or adjust therapy for TD symptom management
Evaluate management considerations for comorbidities in rare forms of congenital epilepsy
