Progressive multiple sclerosis (PMS) is characterized by the gradual accrual of disability independent of relapses over time. During the last several years, significant advances have been made to further comprehend the basic, clinical, and therapeutic mechanisms of PMS. This session will discuss the main features of progressive multiple sclerosis and the development of disease-modifying agents to combat this neurodegenerative disorder.
