Ariel Porto is a Senior Program Manager at the Weitzman Institute, a national primary care research, education, and policy center founded by Connecticut’s largest Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), Community Health Center, Inc. Her work currently focuses on the conceptualization and development of education initiatives for health care professionals. Previously at the Weitzman Institute, Ariel had four years of hands-on experience as a Program Coordinator, followed by two years as the Program Manager of Project ECHO® which included training and supervising the Project ECHO operations team of Education Specialists during a period of rapid growth. In her current role, Ariel is integral to the design and development of new programs, leads stakeholder relationships, reviews and streamlines program operations, and co-leads the Weitzman Institute’s Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education (CEU) activities.
Prior to this position, Ariel managed the support department for an elder law website and taught English to children in Japan, developing diverse technology and communication skills lending to the dynamic perspective she brings to program management. She completed a dual Bachelor's Degree in Communications and English Literature at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Ariel is focused on developing and utilizing interventions to solve for major public health disparities, with a particular passion for the effective integration of mental health and wellness services to improve health outcomes.
