Jessica Jaramillo currently works for the Department of Behavioral Health Services. She graduated from UNM in 2008 with a bachelor’s in sociology with a concentration in criminology. In 2010, she graduated with a master’s in criminal justice from NMSU. In 2011, she started working with the Department of Behavioral Health Services (was formally known as Department of Substance Abuse Programs) as a substance abuse technician (SAT). As a SAT, she helped individuals with their substance abuse addiction and assist them in getting services after detox. In 2014, she was promoted to a substance abuse technician lead where she supervised the SAT’s and was a liaison for community providers. In 2016, she became a program supervisor for the department and in February 2020, became a special projects coordinator in charge of operations. She has enjoyed working with individuals who are struggling with addiction and helping them achieve their goal of recovery.
