Jay Flynn, JD, is the Vice President of Adult Recovery Services at the Mental Health Center of Denver. Mr. Flynn began his career with the Mental Health Center of Denver 30 years ago, as a Residential Counselor. He went on to supervise one of the Residential sites and from there he has held multiple roles including Deputy Director and Director prior to becoming the Vice President. Mr. Flynn oversees over 400 professionals who provide services to adults on multiple assertive community treatment and intensive case management teams, multiple outpatient teams, grant programs, 14 residential facilities and a 24/7 Walk-In Crisis Center.
Mr. Flynn has had a key role in the development and implementation of ten Criminal Justice treatment teams at MHCD. These programs are targeted to individuals with varying types of charges, from municipal ordinance violations to misdemeanors and felonies. Denver, with help from the National Gains Center, has mapped its mental health and criminal justice system and the Mental Health Center of Denver provides services at specific points on the intercept model. The Mental Health Center of Denver also works closely with the Forensic units at the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo to provide community services to community placement and conditional release consumers returning to Denver.
Mr. Flynn has also had an integral role in the development and implementation of integrated co-occurring treatment services and the staff trainings in these areas. Related trainings at Mental Health Center of Denver include Hope Training, Recovery Based Treatment, Case Management Training, Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment, Dual Relationships, Safety Training, Motivational Interviewing, and Criminogenic Risk Factor Training. Mr. Flynn is also a member of the Denver Community Corrections Board and of the Governor’s Council on Community Corrections.
