Dr. Tiona Guess Praylow, chief medical officer at Riverwoods Behavioral Health in Riverdale, Ga., is a Columbia, S.C., native and a summa cum laude baccalaureate of Duke University in Durham, N.C., where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She received her dual MD, MPH medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill respectively. She completed residencies in general and child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of North Carolina Hospitals, and is dual board certified in both. During residency, Dr. Praylow served as an American Psychiatric Association Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) fellow.
Dr. Praylow has served as medical director at both outpatient and residential levels of care, and is the founder of REST, a telepsychiatry and consulting agency that cultivates rested minds through clinical excellence, caregiver education and community empowerment. She is an avid advocate for developing innovative strategies for delivering excellent, evidence-based care to child trauma survivors.
