Dr. Stephanie Lowe Ellis is the Project AWARE/ACTIVATE Director for Rockingham County Schools. She is a nationally licensed school psychologist and leads crisis intervention, crisis planning, student safety, emergency response planning, threat and suicide assessment, and crisis response throughout the district. She oversees the Day Treatment Program in the district, school psychologists, behavioral health specialists, School Resource Officers, and behavior self-contained classrooms. Dr. Ellis is a Governor appointee to the NC Task Force for Safer Schools and serves as the current Chair of the School Safety and Crisis Intervention Committee for the North Carolina School Psychologist Association. She had the honor of receiving the 2016 National School Psychologist of the Year Award from the National Association of School Psychologists. Dr. Ellis holds an associate degree from Danville Community College, a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Averett University, a master’s degree in Psychology from Radford University, an Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology from Radford University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from High Point University.
