Flannery Peterson has over 10 years of experience leading public health training and technical assistance initiatives for health departments, community-based organizations and behavioral health and primary care organizations. She has been at the National Council for Mental Wellbeing for seven years, serving in a variety of roles. Flannery is currently a director, practice improvement on several public health and health equity initiatives focused on substance use and prevention. Prior to joining the National Council, Peterson worked in the public health non-profit association field in both Washington, D.C., and New Haven, Conn., where she spearheaded several technical assistance, leadership, and training programs. Additionally, she served as an AmeriCorps member where she worked as an HIV/AIDS youth prevention specialist for at-risk youth involved in the juvenile justice system in Northern Virginia. Peterson has a Masters of Public Health from George Washington University. She is also a certified Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute.
