Deb Peartree is a registered nurse with over 40 years of experience facilitating performance and quality improvement, leading clinical transformation, and establishing collaborations to better serve vulnerable populations across multiple settings, including care management organizations, Health Homes, Medicaid Managed Care organizations, Accountable Care Organizations, Independent Practice Associations, primary care practices, Community Partners, and public health entities. She is an experienced provider and teacher who has developed and trained providers and care managers in physical and behavioral health care settings. Among her HMA clients are states, community-based organizations, ACOs, behavioral health providers, primary care practices, and associations.
Prior to HMA, Ms. Peartree served as the executive director of a Health Home she established and led which supported community-based care managers providing services for 25,000 of the highest risk and highest need Medicaid recipients in upstate New York. She served as the Director of Clinical Strategy and Performance Improvement at an IPA serving a unique Medicaid program where she was responsible for quality improvement strategy development, clinical programming, evaluation, and reporting. She supported another IPA in evaluating and improving performance through care manager support, training and performance reporting.
She also directed clinical strategy at a local HSA working with community partners to establish the clinical platform for a CMMI Challenge Award grant including the training and deployment of care managers and planning of practice support strategy. Ms. Peartree served as the Director of Nursing for a 591-bed nursing facility and led a nursing staff of over 300. She began her health care career as a home health aide and worked as a community health nurse for several years developing a deep appreciation of the challenges and rewards of working with clients in the community.
Deb is one of 72 Innovation Advisors and is also an Institute for Healthcare Improvement certified Improvement Advisor. She has a bachelor’s degree in biology and nursing and a Master of Science Degree in health systems administration.
