Shirin Boose is a licensed professional clinical counselor with supervisor designation and registered yoga instructor based in Cleveland, Ohio, currently working in private practice.
She has spent time working in various aspects of mental health including a large hospital system; in non-profit community mental health, where she served as director of an employee assistance program; and most recently founding her own private practice and consulting firm.
She is drawn to providing for the unique clinical and educational needs of those who serve others, be they in the health care, activism or political milieu.
Inclusivity in every facet is also a driving force for Boose; serving BIPOC clients in an informed and safe environment, educating around body positivity and sex positivity for all and providing competent and informed care for LGBTQIA+ individuals. Using her education in diversity, equity and inclusion she has had the opportunity to help create inclusive workplaces through training and workforce development.
Boose has focused her own clinical education in areas she sees will most benefit her clients and consulting partners, and most recently has received training in ACT, DBT, narrative therapy and internal family systems therapy as well as certification in EMDR.
As a certified meditation and yoga instructor she is keenly aware of the impact that the mind body connection has on mental health and continues to strive to create forward thinking educational and clinical environments than will meet the needs of those in community with her.
As a passionate educator, Boose has traveled nationally providing Mental Health First Aid to community groups, as well as corporations for over nine years. She is part of the small team responsible for providing train the trainer programs nationally for Mental Health First Aid and is proud to represent MHFA on this national scale
As an active advocate against mental health stigma, Boose is currently a member of the Attorney General of Ohio Taskforce on Criminal Justice and Mental Health, where the focus is to reduce stigma in all areas relating to mental health and to provide education wherever that can be helpful.
