Kathy Raney is care access coordinator with Centerstone of Illinois. She has dedicated her life to serving others with their own wellness/recovery she has been in her own recovery for 20+ years.
Raney received her WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) certification in 2004 and received her CRSS (Certified Recovery Support Specialist) in 2014, which guides her to address community barriers and challenges due to the area being rural and lack of necessary resources. She has provided direct care and supervision for 27 years with Centerstone of Illinois in Region 5.
In 2020 Raney began working in a SAMAHSA grant GBHI/connections care access coordinator in GBHI/Connections grant (grant to benefit homeless and substance use). She has worked in mental health programs for years leading to 2020. Her previous experience has been vital in her current position, evidenced by homelessness and substance use brings mental health issues to their peak. Raney has increased Centerstone’s presence in the community by reaching out to gain community partners within counties served. She is building and guiding a team of case managers and peer supports that continues to move forward with providing needed services to people by supporting individuals/families to obtain needed substance treatment, resources, enhancing life skills, job placement and housing.
Raney works closely with the project director of another SAMHSA grant (CT3), Centerstone Trauma, Treatment and Training. She works with homelessness populations to identify service care gaps that homeless parents with children face. She makes referrals to the CT3 grant for children’s services needed to address trauma. She values the need of grants working together to better meet the needs of all people receiving services.
