Amanda Tanner has served as the training manager at Community Support Services for the past three-and-a-half years. Before she moved to Northeast Ohio in 2017, she was a lifelong resident of Pittsburgh, Pa. Tanner obtained her Bachelor of Science in psychology from Slippery Rock University and her Master of Social Work from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, continuing her knowledge by obtaining her independent licensure with supervisory designation. She has a variety of experience in different settings, including outpatient and inpatient, but at the core of it all has focused on assisting those with severe and persistent mental illness live their most independent life. In Tanner’s current role, she assists in the training and supervision of new case managers joining the agency along with a variety of other staff training and education initiatives. In addition, she assists in the intake assessment process for new consumers of the agency.
She is a certified trainer in QPR-Suicide Prevention, Adult Mental Health First Aid, Professional Assault Crisis Training and serves as a trainer in the Recovery Enhancement Practices for Psychosis Program. Tanner serves as the chair of the agency's Staff Training and Education Committee and Co-chair of the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, as well as an active member of the Health and Safety Committee and the Quality Improvement Committee. She sits on the Summit County Suicide Prevention Coalition and serves as the chair of the Education sub-committee through the larger coalition.
