Acute Behavioral Health, Regional Director
Acess: Supports for Living
Middletown, New York
Patricia (Trish) Tuber is the Acute Behavioral Health Regional Director for ACCESS: Supports for Living and has worked at this agency for about 30 years. Ms. Tuber began her career in 1986 as a Music teacher in the special education department of the Bayonne School District in Bayonne NJ. Her passion for music has always been evident but that is where she realized that she also had a passion for helping people. She went back to school to get her MA in Counseling and Human Development from Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ in 1991. While getting her degree, she was working at East Orange General Hospital in their Crisis Intervention Unit. It was there that she developed her interest in Acute Care settings. After graduation, she was hired by Access: Supports for Living (formally Occupations, Inc.). Trish has worked in multiple settings at ACCESS. She was an therapist at Squire Center CDT (now PROS), a Children’s Intensive Care Manager, the Child Welfare Director, Foster Care Director, and now oversees the Mobile Crisis teams and Behavioral Health Urgent Care units in Orange and Ulster Counties. Ms. Tuber believes our staff are our greatest asset. Helping our staff connect their work with our mission is something she strives to do on a daily basis. Helping them develop their skills and abilities to use creativity in daily problem solving is a hallmark of her teaching style. In 2015, Ms. Tuber helped start the Mobile Mental Health Team of Ulster County. Her efforts to partner with local law enforcement led her to become a CIT trainer and a member of the CIT training committee. Ms. Tuber is passionate about bringing training to police and first responders. This has become a complicated world and our police/first responders need a variety of tools to effectively respond to the ever changing needs of the public. Ms. Tuber has brought her experience, leadership skills and collaborative nature to her work. Her hope is that by working together we can continue to improve the crisis service delivery system for the people of Ulster County.
