Our current mental health system is no system at all. At best, it is a patchwork of states providing too little care too late. At worst, it is at least 50 failed experiments with the most vulnerable, untreated individuals with a diagnosis of severe mental illness, living in a police state. Now is the time to pivot our advocacy and focus on the margins. What ails the majority is healed through the minority. Our imperfect system is ready for resources, infrastructure and most of all, compassion for those too sick to choose their own continuum of care.

Report that individuals with a diagnosis of severe mental illness live in a police state.
