What does it mean to build fairness into home performance and energy efficiency policymaking? This session will define what equity means and how it can be measured to meaningfully assess progress and identify ongoing barriers and systemic disparities. Discussion will cover strategies for prioritizing equity in all parts of the policymaking process, and what it means to be fair across the board for all people, regardless of race, gender, socioeconomic background, educational attainment, etc. From there, we can begin to look at where things have not been fair and how we can evolve to become more equitable as an industry.

Identify four key equity lenses and how to apply them in your work
Understand what procedural justice is and concrete steps that can be taken to advance it in policymaking processes
Learn how government officials and energy efficiency practitioners are addressing equity issues
