Kenneth Mendez joined the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) in 2018. Under his leadership, AAFA has doubled its budget, pursued a strategic focus on reducing healthcare disparities associated with asthma and allergies, and has led the passage of two new laws to support the asthma and allergy community.
Mendez built his career in championing causes about which he is passtionate and in growing the reach of these cause-based organizations. Mendez is an avid fly fisherman. He and his family have asthma and allergies. After working in investment banking on Wall Street and marketing at The Walt Disney Company, Mendez moved to the non-profit sector. He left Disney to become Chief Operating Officer of Trout Unlimited (TU), a non-profit fisheries conservation organization. Based on his success at TU, he was recruited by AdvaMed, the trade association for the medical device industry, to develop and launch new business initiatives, manage business operations and lead strategic planning.
He's Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Health Council and a board member of The Leapfrog Group, the Trout and Salmon Foundation, and the Potomac Conservancy. He has an AB from Harvard College and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
