Ardelia Clarke is a Researcher and Modeling Engineer in the Commercial Buildings Research group at NREL. Her current research centers around energy and environmental justice, building energy modeling, geospatial data analysis, and decarbonization. Ardelia is charged with the challenge of understanding the synergies and differences between commercial and residential building technologies and how to create equitable solutions and pathways towards a clean energy transition for those who have been historical underrepresented in building energy sector. Ardelia holds a B.S in Biophysics from Wake Forest University, a M.A in Physics from Fisk University, and a Ph.D. in Physics from Vanderbilt University. Her Ph.D. dissertation was in radiation detection of nuclear materials and funded through a partnership between Vanderbilt University and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) through the National GEM Consortium.
