Derek Schroeder has had a similar path within his Weatherization career that many of us take and that path began at the local level. He has 16 years of experience in the WAP program starting in 2006 as a Crew Member for Couleecap in Southwest Wisconsin. Other positions that Derek held at Couleecap include Crew Leader, Energy Auditor, and eventually a managerial role as the Lead Energy Auditor. In 2015 Derek transitioned from the local level to the state level and served as a Program and Policy Analyst and eventually the Lead Training and Technical Assistance Program and Policy Analyst as an employee for the State of Wisconsin's WAP program. In late 2016, Derek began a new path in his WAP career and has transitioned from the State level to the Federal level as a Policy Advisor and Technical Project Officer for the Department of Energy in Washington D.C.. His current role is the Acting Program Manager for the Weatherization Assistance Program and the Program Manager for Trianing and Technical Assistance which supports the Readiness and Retrofit, and Innovation Programs
