Jon Harrod, Ph.D., is a contractor, author, and electrification advocate. From 2001 to 2006 he worked at Performance Systems Development as a building analyst, insulation installer, and software trainer. In 2006 he founded Snug Planet, an award-winning home performance company based in Ithaca NY. Starting with an initial focus on home assessment and envelope improvements, Snug Planet grew into a full-service home energy contractor offering insulation, air sealing, moisture management, and HVAC upgrades. In 2020, Snug Planet merged with Halco Energy, where Jon now works as a project manager overseeing heat pump installations. Jon is certified by the Building Performance Institute as a Building Analyst, Envelope Professional, Heating Professional, and AC/Heat Pump Professional. Jon’s articles have appeared in Home Energy Magazine, Journal of Extension, Building Performance Journal, ASHRAE Journal, and Green Building Advisor.
